...this year I am a little behind. I seem to not be revved up yet. I took down the Christmas tree, yeah, finally, but that seems to be as far as I've gotten. I finished my second novel, so now we are at 5 novels and 1 novella going forward. I submitted it and now wait to hear. I started my sequel to Bulletproof as well as Domin's book and I'm working on a novella for an anthology and things are getting done but... is it just me or is January kind of the month that needs some coffee? It could just be me. :)

The Amazing, Surprising GoodReads Awards

The GoodReads Awards were yesterday and it was a blast and the moderators and everyone associated with it did an outstanding job and me, I was just floored by some of the results. I had voted for the books I loved and when I found out that I was included with some of my favorite authors...you could have knocked me over with a feather.
For starters my boy Crane came in third for Best Side/Supporting Character behind Amy Lane and TJ Klune. Honored Vow got second place honors in the Paranormal category, Rand and Stef took third place in the Cowboy category, Jin and Logan took third place for Best Couple, and the biggest surprise for me, of all, (not once did it ever even cross my mind that I would even place), was for Favorite M/M Author behind Amy Lane and Josh Lanyon. Stunned. And oh so appreciative. My fans make me what I am and if I could reach you all, there would be so much hugging. You guys would be like, woman, get off me, but I would squeeze you anyway. I just sat there, mouth open, looking like a fish out of water. Thoroughly overwhelming. Thank you.

I will confess that the only award I obsessed about, that I hoped for, dreamed about, was Hottest Shifter Character. When I saw that Logan Church was nominated...it was the one. I feel like Logan has changed the most in three books. Jin may be of the "live but don't learn tribe", but his semel has grown. I owe a big piece of that to Ariel Tachna. But when that award was announced, I bounced all around my apartment. That was huge for me. It doesn't feel like enough to say thank you, but it's all I have.

The New Shiny New Year

I always expect to feel different after the first of the year, I don't know why. But the good news was that yesterday I got a contract for my new novella which will be out in April or May. Yeah! So, I have a novel out in March, that one's tentatively titled Mine and the novella, tentatively titled Frog. The count, my plans for 2012, now moves to 6 novels and 1 novella. Rolling right along. Hope everyone else started the new year with a bang. And in case anyone missed it, yesterday and today at Dreamspinner everything is 25% off. That's good too.:)

I hope everyone has a fantastic (and safe!) New Years. I appreciate you all so much and wish prosperity and happy on all of you. As for me, I have big plans for the new year, 2 novellas, 7 novels, hopefully I can get it all done. I also have personal goals, like losing weight, eating better and managing my time so that three am is not my normal bedtime when my kids have to be up at six-thirty. Zombies are cool in the movies and on TV but shuffling around like one as I go through my day is not in everyone's best interest.
It seemed like 2011 went by fast but maybe it's just me. I am looking forward to 2012, for the chance to have the spotless year of making no mistakes. We'll see. Everyone keep stopping by, checking in with me, and telling me what you think. Like I said, I can't thank you all enough.:)

Dan Skinner is one of my favorite stops so I look in to see if he has any new pictures up. It's how I found the cover for Bulletproof and for After the Sunset. What's going on?

So, my first novel of the New Year will be out in March 2012. Yeah! It's a contemporary romance with one character who probably needs meds (little crazy) and his boyfriend who is kind of a criminal. I just submitted a novella and will let you know if that one is accepted. It's also a contemporary, very shmoopie like Again and I am working on finishing a novel about a younger man/older man. After that I am off to sequel-land! I have Domin's book, Jory and Sam and kids, a sequel to Romanus which I have been thinking about and working on for forever, and then Rand and Stef's book.

Heart In Hand didn't win at TRR (winners), Stormy Glenn's Air Demon did, (she won in two categories, very awesome), so congrats to her and all the winning authors. I wanted to thank everyone who voted for me, it means the world to me.

That's it for now, hope everyone is having an awesome weekend. I have to get a Christmas tree because my son is ready for it to start looking festive at our house. Can I just say how much it never feels like Christmas in Hawaii? But we're going after my husband's done watching his alma mater, the University of Kentucky hopefully annihilate Indiana. They really need to win, the moping if they don't will not make for a fun afternoon. :)

So this is the cover for Cherish Your Name (if you look close, it says Dylan on the small skinny stocking and Malic on the big burly one), and it will be out on the 28th of December. I have What Can Be out on the 1st (part of the DSP advent calendar), so I have one at the very beginning of the month and one at the almost end. Sort of bookending the month, I like it.

Here's the blurb:
Malic Sunden is in hell—only not literally... yet. As a warder, Malic is used to fighting demons and squaring off against all kinds of creatures from the pit, but this year he’s facing a new and terrifying prospect: Christmas holidays with his much-younger boyfriend and his family.

He loves Dylan, his hearth, but Dylan’s parents, the Shaws, are another story. They think Malic is a cradle-robber, among other things. At least their neighbor, Brad, seems to like him. But it's just so cute, and the sword in the corner... I mean really, what's Christmas without a demon? I'm excited about this one, I hope revisiting the bright bubbly hearth and his grouchy ass warder will be something you all look forward to as well.

Power Month

I have a friend Michael and he just loves May. It turns from April 30th to May 1st and he's all smiles. I loathe all those Spring/Summer months, they trudge on forever but he's thrilled. It's because May is his power month, nothing bad happens to him at all that month. That's how October is for me. I mean, I wouldn't want to push it, but I think if I somehow fell off a building, events would unfold and I'd be okay. I realize that sounds slightly psychotic but seriously, in October I could fly. I feel better, the stars align, just goodness and light all around. My husband, thinks it's because it's so close to Halloween. This was us in the car:
"I feel like I'm forgetting something," I said, sitting there, wondering what it could be.
"Hat?" He offered brightly. "Broomstick?"
Yeah. He's a frickin' riot.
So obviously he thinks it's my power month because his wife is a witch and not the cool Wiccan kind but replace the "w" with a "b" kind. Whatever. The point is, I love October and now, 4 days into the bleh of November, I already miss it. Of course November has Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday, but still, I miss the month where I just know in the depths of my soul that every little thing will be all right. Who else has got a power month?

to process M/M romance publications in lengths from 5,000 to 150,000 words. Proofreaders should be able to read for misspellings, punctuation errors, typos, logic problems, and formatting errors. Dreamspinner Press edits to The Chicago Manual of Style conventions. While experience writing, editing, proofreading, and/or using CMOS is preferred, it is not required.

Proofreading is an unpaid contractor position. Contractors will receive proof galleys at no charge and a discount at the company store in exchange for quality services. Deadlines are set according to length of the work, ranging from five to ten days. Proofreaders are not at any time obligated to accept an assignment.

Release Date for Honored Vow

Honored Vow, my third werepanther novel, and the last of the books that will focus on Jin and Logan will be out on November 21st. I am excited, and a little sad, but mostly I hope everyone will enjoy seeing the two men grow in their bond. And didn't Anne Cain do an amazing job on the cover? I just love it.

So I got back from Yaoi-Con on Sunday and I had such a good time but I forgot a lot of really important things like telling everyone that the wonderful Chris at Stumbling Over Chaos is giving away Nexus (my fifth and final warder book in the series) which will be out this Wednesday the 26th. See...late.
Can I just say how awesome Yaoi-Con was? I picked up all 5 books of In These Words from Jo Chen, (does anyone know if 6 is out or when it will be out?), and Father Figure and Cruel To Be Kind. I also got another of those sleeve things and a Tiger and Bunny pin and postcard and a Buffy and Xander poster for Amy's daughter...and Jo Chen is awesome, she is kind and sweet and it's always like the best thing ever when people you admire turn out to be fabulous. She signed everything for me. Like Hamlet Machine, I was the first one in line to pre-order Chapter 2 in paperback. And she was super. I have a tote bag and a keychain and Chapter One in paperback and a print and stickers...just squeeee! I went all fangirl on her, hopefully she wasn't scared. The lovely Clare London went with me, both of us ducking away from the Dreamspinner table just for a bit. We went upstairs to see Jo Chen together too. Clare is wonderful by the way but I'm sure everyone knows that.
I realized I had everything from Teahouse that I wanted, (I ordered the comics and prints online), but I did get a key-chain. And then there were books to buy, lots of manga and print copies from DSP authors I love. Paperbacks make me happy. If I love a book, I will have it in print and getting them signed is thrilling. The best part of the con though is seeing friends, making new ones, meeting fans and rooming with Amy Lane. We have the best time. I love Yaoi-Con, I cannot wait to go next year.
I saw Ariel Tachna, Nicki Bennett, Andrew Grey, TC Blue, Lori Toland (it was her birthday!), Clare London, Shira Anthony, Pearl Love, EM Lynley, Julianne Bentley, Rhys Ford, Rowan McBride and of course Amy who I dragged to Starbuck's with me. So awesome that the Marriott had a Starbuck's in it. I know how Galahad felt when he found the grail.

A Celebration of Male Beauty & Passion in Anime & Manga

Yaoi-Con 2011 will take place October 21st through 23, 2011 at The San Francisco Airport Marriott hotel in Burlingame, California.

So I'm so excited I can barely stand it. Not only do I get to go buy more Yaoi, (which there is so much of in my house at this point that it's insane), but I also get to see my fellow DSP authors and hang out with my buddy Amy Lane, (seriously counting the hours until I get to see her), meet Lori Toland for the first time, gush over Andrew Grey and fangirl Ariel Tachna and Nicki Bennett. So excited! Jo Chen is going to be there so I'm psyched. Last year I bought a print that she signed that sits above my writing desk and this year I'm gonna buy her book of prints if I can get there before they run out. Also, Hamlet Machine is going to be there so I have to get Chapter One of Starfighter and pre-order Chapter Two. Seriously, I'm stupid with excitement at this point. Best part of all, last year I got to meet my own fans and sign some of my books and give away my bookmarks. Awesome. So please, if anyone is going to be at the convention this weekend, please stop by and visit me at the Dreamspinner table. If I'm not there, I'll be right back, I'm just buying... something. The Dreamspinner table was across from the DMP table last year, yeah, not good. I might need a bigger suitcase.

So my chat on Good Reads this weekend was a lot of fun and extremely enlightening. I want to thank everybody who stopped by and kept me company, I can't thank you enough. I was really afraid that I was going to be talking to myself for 5 hours and that wasn't the case. We got some of my books cast and talked about Sean Crisden, (who did the audiobook of The Guardian and Timing), and I got some recipes to try out on my family. All in all, it was wonderful.

Good Reads Chat

So I am scheduled to have a Good Reads chat on Saturday October 8th between 7am to 12pm. I think it's EST which I think means I have to wake up at like one in the morning or two in the morning, not sure which. I don't remember if Hawaii is six hours behind or five hours behind, I will have to figure it out. But I'm gonna be there so if you guys have time, will you pop by and visit? I would appreciate it. The idea of talking to myself for 5 hours is not that appealing. We could talk about my guys or you all could give me some recipes since I'm trying to cook for my family here lately. Release Date for Nexus

Wednesday October 26th is the day that Nexus is out, the last of my five part warder series, 5 warders, 5 books. This is Marcus and Joe's story and is told from Marcus' POV. I know I've been messing with the blog but it's so boring and I seriously could not take the birds on that other template. I tried to do the WordPress thing because I have lots of friends with great blogs but, I can't wrap my brain around it. I love that this is easy, I just have to figure out how to change the background. And I am doing this instead of writing because I'm supposed to be helping my sixth grader with her project but it's "her" project so I'm just supervising but it's soooooo boring and I don't remember 6th grade being this labor intensive but as Amy reminded me, there are "standards" now and back in the day we had to learn cursive. Anyway, hopefully I can just live with this for a bit and stop fiddling...

My Christmas story was accepted by Dreamspinner for the yearly advent calender so as soon as I have a cover I will post it up. The old versions from Club Lighthouse are in the process of being taken down from all sites. For brand new readers of the series, it now reads clean, breaks where it should and there are only two volumes instead of 4. Thank you everyone for being excited with me for the reissue.

The sequel to AMOT will be out in either late September or early October from Dreamspinner. As soon as I have a firm date, I will let everyone know as well as post up the cover. I can't wait!

This is my newest novella, my take on forgiveness and trusting someone who almost killed you the first time around. It's out July 13th and is by far the most romantic thing I've ever written in my life. Hopefully that translates. Here's the blurb:

I have no idea why on Amazon this says Art Not Final because I own this book and I can tell you that this is indeed what the cover looks like. Strange. But anyway, as this is currently my favorite manga, the cover for Your Love Sickness is here to announce that yours truly is going to Yaoi-Con again this year. And I can't wait! It was so fun last year, I had the best time. Meeting fans, meeting authors, and buying way, way too many books. I realize that I've bought a ton of them this year:
The notables have been:

*Your Love Sickness by Kuku (loved it-I've read it a gazillion times, the fox gods are so great, especially Aura)

*Intense Rain by Fuwa (which has been out awhile I guess but I just discovered it)

*Cute Devil by Madarame (non-con in this so if it's not your kink beware)

*Scarlet by Madarame (upping the ante on the non-con to actual pain, I didn't like this one and I'm pretty forgiving)

*Endless Comfort by Sakura (really good, sweet and hot and the non-con is not between the two main characters. It's about getting over heartbreak as both characters need to forgive themselves, one for what he thinks are his failings and another fro thinking he was weak. It's really great, totally fleshed out story with growth. Can't say enough good things about it)

*Croquis by Takanaga (I enjoyed, it's light and fluffy)

*Stray Cat by Halco (I really loved this, it's about Kaoru who is a stray cat himself, gets described like one a lot and about Yohei who loves him. There's a scene where Kaoru is saying why dogs are better and Yohei says that that to earn the lvoe of a cat and the fact that they're all independent and different is why he loves them, why he's a true cat person. It's why he can love and keep Kaoru. It's so cute, and then one night they get their signals crossed and Kaoru ends up wearing cat ears...if you love yaoi you should pick this one up.

At the con hopefully Finder 4 will be out by Yamane, I have the other 3 and I really hope there's closure. Although waiting for The Crimson Spell volume 3 is driving me nuts too. I realize that, holy crap, I own a lot of yaoi. Oh, I got Yellow 2 Omnibus as well. Got it the second it came out. But all this is to say that I hope to see you all at Yaoi-Con! I can't wait!

Yaoi-Con 2011 will take place October 21st through 23, 2011 at The San Francisco Airport Marriott hotel in Burlingame, California.

My fourth Warder book

Okay so I wrote the third warder book and the fourth back-to-back because they are running at basically the exact same time, overlapping but also with months between. Hopefully it will all make sense when you read it. The fifth and final one is not done yet, which will be Marcus and Joe's story. This one, for anyone who's been waiting, is Jackson and Raphael's story. Here's the blurb:

As a warder, Jackson Tybalt is one of the good guys until he sees the man he loves kissing another. Betrayed and angry, Jackson tempts danger and death, ignoring the pleas of other warders to be careful. I have a weird schedule. I have Wednesday off and Saturday and the rest of the time I write in between shifts at the EDJ. It's hard, maybe not for others, but for me it is, to stop writing, and go to work. The more people inhabit my brain, the harder it becomes. In the old days there would be a patron and you'd write and they'd pay you. But there was no hot and cold running water or indoor plumbing so I guess we take the good with the bad.

In other news, I finished the sequel to A Matter of Time (yeah!) so now I wait and see if it's accepted. I will of course let everyone know.

Also, I need thoughts on help with staying awake. I tend to get sleepy suddenly around midnight but need to push through. The No Doz is not really working anymore, and 3 at once makes my stomach weird. I drink a lot of Revive Vitamin Water and take Ginkgo Biloba (which I think would be a cool name for a writer) and of course regular vitamins. So, thoughts? That are legal.

Has anyone gone over to Literary Nymphs lately? Ohmygod I could not believe it, they changed the blog and it's fab except guess what blog layout they chose? Yep, my birds, my colors, which is to say that since they're templates the odds of someone picking the one you have are like whatever it is, twenty maybe, so I changed it this morning because I read reviews on that site religiously just like Jessewave and Fallen Angels so it had to be changed, it would have bugged the crap out of me. So, now we have sort of a brown thing going. It's fine, I liked the birds better (even though I have no idea why) but I will probably live. This goes back to the point about a website. If I had one, it would be one of a kind, just me, made for just me. But as some of you pointed out, who's gonna maintain said website? But anyhoo... What's everyone reading? I just finished Faking Perfection by Mia Watts. I enjoyed it. I also finished The Inventor's Companion by Ariel Tachna and loved that and re-read Over The Mountain of the Moon by Reiko Morgan and I must love it if I re-read it. I love samurai heroes and the plucky bottom so it worked for me on all levels. I can't wait to pick up The Locker Room by Amy Lane which I beta read and I can't wait to buy. What can't you wait for?

So yeah!, I received a contract for my sequel to Timing, so more Rand and Stef will be coming at you guys in September! It's not a novel, it's a long novella, but I'm a firm believer in, when it's done, it's done. I don't like to go on and on. When the characters have resolved things, when they are done speaking, I stop. And there are things that certain characters would never do and I always want to stay true to the heart of my people. I hope you all love it. :) As soon as I have the cover, I will post it up.

Things on my mind

I worry that I don't do chats. I have tried to do chats, I would like to do chats but things like my yahoo account get in the way, my comments get delayed, technology has never, ever, been my friend. I had to post to the DSP blog once and I had help trying to muddle through it and it was rough. But the biggest problem with chatting is, let's face it, I'm just not quick.

I wish I could shoot comments from the hip and be funny and witty, my dear friend Amy Lane can talk to anyone at anytime and I am in awe of this power. People email and we talk and I'm good. One on one I'm good. I can chat on my blog here with any of you but in the big forum...I'm going to date myself here, (who cares, I'm old), but eons ago Micheal J. Fox (I think it was him) was on SNL and he was like the last guy getting the joke yanno, the one with the lame ass comment so he gets in a time machine and goes back to earlier in the night and then he's on it, there with the one-liners and his friends are astounded and he gets the girl! This is me, I would need the way-back-machine to keep up. At Yaoi-Con people were talking and I was just listening because it's like ohmygod ZAM is talking to me! Belinda McBride is talking to me! Clare London, Andrew Grey, Maire Sexton...ah-mazing. And I met so many great fans and hugged as many as would let me and it was just...oh. And you know how in school you had the choice to either write ten pages of a book report or stand up and give an oral report for like a minute and a half? Guess who wrote the ten pages?

I think it comes down to (a.) not wanting to stick my foot in my mouth and (b.) not being sure that I really have anything new to add. So I would like to do chats but I end up just lurking, listening, taking it all in. It's just so amazing to have authors I admire talk to me, have my wonderful fans say they enjoy my work and have new writers as me for advice. Me? It's mind-blowing. So I will have to try and chat, it's on my list to work on this year.

In other news, the third warder book is due out in May and the fourth in June. I am working on the fifth one now as well as a non-sequel. I was supposed to be writing yesterday morning before work but I got sucked into reading The Captive Prince by Freece because Marie Sexton mentioned it on her blog that she co-authors with Heidi Cullinan
Cup o'Porn (that I am addicted to) and there went my morning. It's so good, I have to know how it turns out now. But since Saturday is my day off, now that I've finished cleaning my house and talking to you guys, I will get back to writing. Happy Saturday everybody. :)

For insight into the crazed mind of a writer, my dear friend Amy Lane blogged on the lovely Marie Sexton's blog about the Crazy Tree. It is where she and I are known to sit and watch TV on occasion. Her post was first Part 1 and then my part, Part 2, was out today. It was fun and now everyone knows that we're both nuts. It was very nice of Marie, as Amy said, to let us play in her sandbox. Also, Marie Sexton and Heidi Cullinan are launching they're new joint venture, Coffee and Porn in the Morning, or Cup o' Porn tomorrow, January 24th. It goes live so everyone go check it out.

Happy New Year everyone, I hope you all have wonderful one. I have big plans for this year complete with 3 more warder books, a novella sequel to Timing, the sequel for A Matter of Time and a third installment of Jin and Logan. All of that has been started I just need to finish. I am always in awe of some of my favorite authors who write so fast. They're amazing. Anyway, again, Happy 2011!

The Servant, my fairy tale

My favorite Fairy Tale is Puss and Boots, so when the opportunity came up to write one...that being said, if you liked The Guardian, (third-person POV, fantasy), then this will be right up your alley. If The Guardian didn't float your boat. you might want to give it a pass. Or not. Maybe try it, see what you think. But if I had to say what it most resembles, The Guardian is what it would be. Here's the blurb:

Sunday Stuff

So Yaoi-Con was awesome! I loved meeting my fans and passing out the bookmarks I made and signing books. It was a thrill. And the Dreamspinner table was right across from the DMP table so guess what I did, I bought books. Holy crap did I get a lot of yaoi. Got the Finder series 1 & 2, and Yellow and so many more. The bag was heavy, holy crap. But it was just amazing. I got the pictures I wanted from Jo Chen and she signed them (she was SO nice) and I waited in line for an hour and a half to get the book on the left here, The Devil's Secret, signed by Hironaga Takanaga. I didn't get to see Ayano Yamane like many lucky others but I got more of her books so it worked out okay.

The biggest thrill of all was meeting my fans and my internet buddies like Kris and Chris and Tam and all the other authors and Elizabeth and Lynn and Ariel from Dreamspinner and rooming with Amy Lane. I can see how going to cons can become very addictive. Seeing everyone and talking to everyone and the hugs! The hugging was my favorite part.

In more news, Change of Heart is out of the running in the cover contest and so is His Hearth. Sigh. There are still some very pretty ones in the contest but all mine are gone. I can't wait to see what the cover for Trusted Bond will look like and as soon as I get it I will post it up here for everyone.

Isn't it funny that you start off thinking that it would be really great to win something and then somewhere along the line a key turns and you like REALLY want to win? Maybe it's simple human nature but when I saw my covers in Elisa Rolle's Rainbow Awards Cover Contest I was excited at first and now that it's getting to the end it's like OMG I want my last two books to stay in there! Change of Heart is still there and so is His Hearth. The others all fell off which was sad but those two are still in it. If you guys get a chance, could you go over there (I don't have a Live Journal account so I have to log in with my Facebook one) and vote. That would be awesome. Who knew I was this competitive?

And it looks like along with my fellow Dreamspinner authors and my friends that I will get to see a lot of other authors as well. It's this week! Can't wait! Really getting excited and nervous, very nervous. And I want Ayano Yamane to sign some of my books and it looks like you have to get a ticket to stand in line, I'm confused. And I want to see Jo Chen...have to figure out how to do all these things without a time machine.

Getting Excited!

I am getting so excited about going to Yaoi-Con! I get to finally meet people I consider my support system who I have never even seen in person. I have friends and fans that I can't wait to see and talk to and hug. I have never ever been to a convention of any kind so it's brand new to me. My husband has warned me not to be a total geek but I think it's inevitable. I am going to be at the Dreamspinner Table on Saturday October 30th from 9am to 1pm so please, everyone, if you're there, come see me! I would love to see you. I will be sitting with two of my favorite people in the world, Amy Lane and Ariel Tachna. It's going to be so awesome! And I get there on Friday with Amy so we'll be around and I am there through Saturday night. I hope to see everybody there!

I was going to wait and then I just couldn't. Isn't it beautiful? This is the cover for the second book in my warder series, Tooth & Nail, which is Malic's story. It will be out in November.
